02/26-03/05/2006 Climbing the highest mountain in Mexico El Pico de Orizaba with Matt, Jason, Dave, Tony and Tom. Flew into Mexico City, drove to Tlachichuca a town at the base of the mountain at 9,000 ft, stayed at Senor Reyes excellent hiking compound for a night, 2 nights at the Piedra Grande hut at 14,000 ft, set up base camp at 15,600 ft, hiked the peak starting at 1am in the dark and very cold, made it up to 18,000 ft before going back.
