07/3-6/2008 25th Annual Backpack in the Mt Zirkel Wilderness near Steamboat Springs, Colorado with Holly, Tiffany, Sam, Katie, Andy, Kelsey, Jules, Janet, Rocky, Tim and John. Total of 33 miles hiking and climbed Dome Peak. Slideshow

7/2-6 25th Annual Backpack, Mt Zirkel Wilderness, Routt NF, N Colorado,
fly
to Denver, long wait for Advantage rental car, drive to Walden viaFt Collins, meet Tim Rocky & Andy at Ranger Office, Moose Creek Cafe,
Tom picks up Kelsey returning from Italy at Seattle airport minus
luggage, long drive via WY & rough road, camp 18mi short of TH,
tire pressure warnings, sore back
3: drive back to Walden via good Cowdrey road, get gas for T&A, tire
repair, leave car, Encampment TH, noon start, Tom get's K's gear in
Salt Lake, hike 4mi on west side Trail 1153 & camp, TK&J arrive at
10pm, knee problem starts but back is OK
4: day hike to Continental Divide, GPS help, 10180 then return at
3:15 while others do loop, RKKJ back at 6, TTSA at 7:20 after Dome
Pk, knee swollen & numb with tendency to buckle
5: continue loop, West Fork Lake, river crossing in meadow, mostly in
pairs, camp 5mi for TH near Encampment River
6: hike out, knee still a problem, wait for Tim, finally leave & find
group on main road not having done last river crossing, lunch at
Walden, no shower at KOA, friendly ranger at NF Visitor Center lets
me take shower, near collision when returning car, late flight -
storms in Denver close airport, B pickup after midnight
