Tom's log for raft trip:
Tuesday 9/24 Leave for Tri-Cities after work and arrive at Tim's around 8:45pm, load up Subaru with all the rafting equipment and wooden frame strapped to roof rack; had a banana beer and some crackers at Tim's; break out with hives after going to bed and can't sleep itching all over; facetime with Matt at 4am and he says to take Benadryl and Zantacs.
Wednesday 9/25 Leave Tim's at 7am with Tim doing a lot of driving; arrive at Hammer Creek Mile 52.5 put-in noon after picking up permits in White Bird; Byron, Rick and Grisell arrive at 1:30pm; rig rafts and get on river at 3:30pm camping at Shorty Canyon at Mile 49, nobody else on the river, still had hives and could not sleep.
Thursday 9/26 Got on river by 9am bacon and Egg Burritos for breakfast, all get stuck on rocks, cloudy with a little rain but nice when we camp at 2pm Killer Goat Beach Mile 33.5, Byron made dutch oven (DO) dinner of chicken enchiladas and cheese cake for dessert, slept well for the first night in three days.
Friday 9/27 Left again at 9am sausages and blueberry pancakes for breakfast, hit most of the big rapids, scouted Half&Half, Snow Hole and China, camped at Mile 17.5 3:30pm, Rick made lasagna in DO and Byron made chocolate cherry cobbler.
Saturday 9/28 Got our earliest start 8:10 ham and Egg Burritos for breakfast, made good time all day with rain on and off, hit the confluence of the Snake River, camped at Geneva Bar doing 21.5 miles our longest day, Byron made chicken pot pie in DO and Rick made peach cobbler, had fires every night but it started to rain so we all all went to bed early at 7pm and it rained all night.
Sunday 9/29 Got another early start 8am head wind, cold and rain, could see snow up on the hills, sausage and french toast for breakfast, Byron put a motor on his raft and towed the other two rafts but only got 3.5 miles before we ran out of gas, tried to get a jet boat to tow us but it never showed up at the visitor center, so we rowed hard and got to the take out at 2:05, derigged and on the road getting to Tri-Cities 7pm, unloaded raft and frame at Tim's storage locker then unloaded Tim's rafting stuff at his place, got on the road at 7:30 and got home right before midnight. Great trip and people. Good job, Byron as our trip leader!
