9/16-21/2020 Trip to Montana to visit Bridgette and PT; stopped in to see Tim in Pasco and Tim made his famous goulash for dinner; Bridgette' s place in Coram, MT with new lawn and shed. The place is looking great!; road trip up to Logan Pass in Glacier NP with Pt and Bridgette; Sunday drove around Hungry Horse Reservoir and stopped at Spotted Bear Ranger Station with PT's dog named Spotted Bear and PT and Bridgette; smoke all the over to Montana on the drive but it cleared up by the time we drove back; we had some rain and now Salem has nice clean air like usual! 8/28-29&31&9/6&7/2020 Camping at Detroit Lake Cove Creek NF Campground with Ramesh, Pranav, Dwayne (he made his famous chili), Sheryl, Zack and Gabe; Coffin Mt hike 4 miles 1200 feet with Pranav and Ramesh with no smoke; McDowell Creek and Falls 3 miles 200 feet near Sweet Home; lunch with Mike and Pete at Mike's house like old times before covid; Coffin Mt hike 4 miles 1200 feet with Parinaz and Iman this time with smoke and the day before the fires ripped thru the Santiam Canyon which we just drove thru; So very sad!. 8/10&17/2020 Another attempt bushwhacking up South Pyramid after bashing my knee, got further on the ridge between Middle Pyramid and South Pyramid but it was just too difficult 6 miles 1500 feet; Jefferson Park 10 miles 1700 feet Whitewater Trail to the PCT was all burned up from the fire a couple years ago, this was our alternative backpack for this year, saw 17 backpackers going out, even more coming in along with 6 llamas, had lunch at Scout Lake and hiked around the lake, a lot of people everywhere for a wilderness area. 7/30-8/3/2020 37th Annual Backpack in Strawberry Mountain Wilderness near John Day, OR with Aaron, Addy, Liz, Julie, Tim L, Jean, Tim S and John; met at Wickiup NF Campground Thursday night; hiked in 5 miles to Slide Lake Friday morning; Saturday backpacked 5 miles around Strawberry Lake, Strawberry Falls and up to Little Strawberry Lake where we stayed for two nights; Sunday Aaron, Addy, Tim L, Tim S, John and Tom hiked up Strawberry Mountain 9038 feet high while Liz, Julie and Jean hiked around Strawberry Lake; Monday hiked out 6 miles then Loveless family got a flat driving out on the gravel road so we all headed to John Day to get the tire fixed; had lunch at 1188 Brewery while Les Schwab put on a new tire because the damage was too bad to plug; another fun backpack (and pretty buggy but we had plenty of deet) with ages ranging from 9 years old to 77 years old. 7/19/2020 Thanks to everyone who showed up for our Kayak and Paddle Board Event, our first team event since covid. We had 19 people and beautiful weather. I had a good time and I think everyone else did too. We hope to do it again next year. Here are photos I took from the event.
