6/13&20&23-26&7/1-4/2022 Seals keeping an eye on me at Netarts Spit; Coffin Mountain 5 miles 1000 feet still in the snow and snowing mid June; Middle Pyramid 5 miles 1500 feet could not get to top because of steep snow field; Matt got me a bike outfit plus our team kit for our Ragbrai bike ride across Iowa the end of July; Father's Day camping trip at Goose Lake with Aaron, Addy, Holly, Michael, Julie and Tim near Mt Adams kayaking, paddle boarding and exploring ice caves;
39th Annual Backpack in Maroon Bells Wilderness near Aspen, CO with Caty, Archer (what a good dog!), Bo, Tim and Tom; planned to do a loop hike but when we got off the shuttle bus, we were at the wrong trail head; it worked out well for us with Bo's sore leg, we just backpacked in 4 miles and 1800 feet into the best campsite at 11,400 feet that we saw in the whole area; Saturday 7/2 Caty, Archer, Tim and Tom day hiked 8 miles 2000 feet to Willow Lake going over Willow Pass 12,500 feet while Bo rested his sore leg in camp, Tom climbed up to another pass at 12,500 feet on the East Snowmass Trail; Sunday day hiked 12 miles 2500 feet to Snowmass Lake with Tim and Tom while Bo, Archer and Caty climbed to Buckskin Pass 12,500 feet; Monday July 4th we hiked out from our base camp; this was Bo's first backpack with us while Caty has been on 3 other backpacks with us but it had been 24 years since the last one; we ended up doing a lot of the loop we had originally planned but just day hiking it; we saw deer, foxes, marmots and picas. 5/2&9&16&20&23&30&6/4-6/2022 Netarts Spit hike 11 miles 100 feet found 18 whole sand dollars north of Cape Lookout on the coast; Punch Bowl Falls hike 9 miles 1000 feet on Eagle Creek in the gorge, saw several pretty Western Tanagers; Cook's Ridge and Gwynn Creek Loop hike 7 miles 1000 feet at Cape Perpetua; flew to 150 miles north to Copalis Beach, WA.for a beach landing at low tide in the Cessna 172 Skyhawk with Ramesh and Pranav; Dry Creek Falls hike 4 miles 500 feet on the PCT in the gorge; Hart's Cove hike 4 miles 500 feet with our new Subaru Outback; first big trip in the new Outback to Montana visiting Bridgette and biking the Going-to-the-Sun road thru Glacier National Park with Jean and Laura C, First day biked half way up west side to The Loop (Logan Pass was still closed too much snow) 29 miles 1000m feet, Second day biked up east side from St. Mary to Jackson Glacier Overlook 14 miles 1000 feet, Third day biked from Coram to Apgar on west side 19.6 miles 100 feet, the rangers think Logan Pass won't be open until July.
