8/25-9/6&8&10/2022 Trip to Chicago for Colin's 8th birthday, fun trip to downtown Museum of Ice Cream and Navy Pier (ride on the Seadog which got us all wet in the waves of Lake Michigan), taking Liam and Colin to school and meeting their teachers; hike up South Sister 12.2 miles 5000 feet (10,358 feet third highest peak in Oregon) with Ziv and Elle, smoke from fires in the video (see link below) to the south; Marion Mt 11.2 miles 2200 feet in the smoke with Ziv and Elle including Marion Lake and Ann Lake with nice falls Marion and Gatch Falls. 8/2&15&16&20&21&22/2022 Kelsey the Mermaid from her gig in Hawaii; Tom canceled his Idaho raft trip because of a bad back but has recovered quickly with some muscle relaxers and PT back exercises; Battle Axe Mountain hike 7 miles 1900 feet near Elk Lake, just opened up since the bad fire two years ago, but very little fire damage there; Fly over Crater Lake with Ramesh and Pranav, refueled in Roseburg; Kings Mountain hike 10 miles 3000 feet with Ziv and Elle and then lasagna dinner at our house on their way back from the Canadian Rockies; fun dinner and Schneider game with Aaron, Addy, Liz, Holly, Michael, Julie and Tim at Julie's, Holly and Michael were on their way back from Crater Lake camping weekend; Stahlman Point hike 4.5 miles 1300 feet near Detroit Lake. 7/10&13&14&21-31/2022 4rd Annual Kayak and Paddleboard Event with Jessica and Jennifer paddling from Independence to Salem 11 miles meeting David and Laura at the end in Wallace Marine Park; stayed at Airbnb near Mt Hood with Tim and Sharon and hiked along Trillium Lake with a good lunch at Timberline Lodge; Laura on her 73rd birthday; picked up Tim and his bike in Boulder, CO and then drove and visited Earl, Linda and Judy in Sioux Falls, SD with a delicious spaghetti and meatball dinner on our way to Ragbrai in Sioux City, IA; shuttled cars over to the other side of Iowa on Saturday; Sunday began our fun Ragbrai bike ride across Iowa with 22-23 thousand people for 7 days 454 miles 11,954 feet climb with fantastic weather (never got above 85 degrees) with Jean, Laura C and Tim; every town was a party even the small farm towns, lots of corn and soy bean fields with corn fields used for our bathroom stops much nicer than all the porta potties, each overnight town had nice parks for thousands of tents, the Grotto of Redemption in West Bend, Stockman House (Frank Lloyd Wright) in Mason City, Alvin Miller House (Frank Lloyd Wright) in Charles City; the next Saturday we finished our ride in Lansing and then on to Matt's house for an overnight before driving back across country; meanwhile Laura spent time with her good friend Chris in Idaho and then flew to Maui to vacation with Kelsey and Ryan; they all had a great time together touring around the island in a white Mustang convertible; Mark and Christine visit Kelsey and Sam in New York.
