12/4&11&18&24&25&27&29-31/2023 Roads End hike 7.5 miles 1400 feet on the foggy coast; Cape Horn loop hike 7.2 miles 1500 feet in the gorge; Cape Perpetua and giant old Sitka Spruce hike 4.6 miles 600 feet on the coast near Yachats; Jessica with her new baby girl Kira; Christmas Tuba concert at the Ellsinore in Salem; Christmas with Aaron, Addy, Liz, Ellin, Julie and Tim; Silver Falls loop hike 11.4 miles 1900 feet Trail of 10 Falls with Ziv and Elle; Lentil Soup dinner with Ziv and Elle after our hike and then we played Spam Yahtzee, a Christmas gift from Kelsey; fun New Years weekend in Seattle with Holly, Michael in their nice new place along with Janet and Tim, visiting the Spheres by Amazon, the Seattle skyline at night and the light show Astra Lumina. 11/3&6&13&17-19&22-29/2023 Wanlu's baby shower at work with Chen and Jessica who is also pregnant; Rob Straub State Park hike 5 miles 100 feet on the coast; Kelsey's bone art work; Wahkeena and Multnomah Falls loop hike 6 miles 1800 feet in the gorge; day trip to the coast with Kelsey, Ryan and Tim; our pre-thanksgiving turkey dinner at our house with Aaron, Addy, Liz, Michael, Holly, Kelsey, Ryan, Julie, Tim L, Janet, Tim S and Ellin, plenty of ping pong and Schneider card games; Wahclella Falls hike 2 miles 500 feet with our whole group, we did this hike 17 years ago when Liz was less than a year old so we recreated the same photos; met the 80 year old Herman the Sturgeon and his friends at the Bonneville Fish Hatchery then a farewell lunch at Walking Man Brewery in Stevenson, WA; took the redeye to Chicago for our actual Thanksgiving to spend a week with Colin, Liam, Olivia and Matt; enjoyed the light show at Chicago Botanical Gardens with Colin, Liam, Olivia and Matt; Our second Thanksgiving dinner at Matt's with Belinda, Henry, BJ, Jen. Lucas and Francesca; Liam cut down a Christmas tree for the house; another good light show at Santa's Village and a visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus with BJ and family. Google Photos

9/25&10/2&6&9&13-21&26-30/2023 Coffin Mountain hike 3 miles 1000 feet in the fog and rain; Pamelia Lake and Grizzly Peak hike 10.6 miles 2700 feet foggy again; Liz's 18th birthday and she picked Deschutes Brewery for dinner to celebrate with Aaron, Addy, Maya, Julie, Ellin and Tim; Crescent Mountain hike 9.4 miles 2400 feet; trip to Kittery, Maine to visit Bridgette and celebrate her 64th birthday; on the weekend visit Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park with Bridgette and drive up Cadillac Mountain staying at an airbnb farm house; lunch at an Irish pub in Bangor and visit Stephen King's 2 houses with Bridgette; our traditional Chinese dinner with Molly, Ann and Bridgette at Ann's farm house near Durham, NH; visit Peter and Linda at their new place in Beverly, MA on the north shore; night out at a comedy club with Peter and Linda and good local comedian Joe Dunn; Stacey and her two kids stop by for a visit; lunch with Paul and Martha at Mario's Italian restaurant in Lexington half way between Dedham and Beverly; one last lunch with Bob and Sheila at Legal Seafood in Brookline before heading back to Oregon; 40th annual backpack in Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument in Arizona right on the Mexican border.
