12/2&9&16&23&24&25/2024 Mt Hood Meadows skiing and snowboarding 18,000 feet vertical, early snow in the Cascades so the slopes were open before Thanksgiving; Cape Horn hike 7.3 miles 1400 feet in the gorge on the Washington side; God's Thumb, the Knoll, Westwind YMCA camp and the spit from Roadsend hike 7.2 miles 1300 feet on the coast near Lincoln City; Mt Hamilton, Rodney and Hardy Falls hike 8 miles 2400 feet in the gorge on the Washington side again; Annual Tuba Christmas Eve concert at the Elsinore Theater in Salem; Christmas ham dinner with Aaron, Addy, Liz, Julie, Tim and Ellin playing some card games too. 11/11&15&22-23&28/2024 Green Peter Peak and Lookout hike 9 miles 2100 feet 2 and half hours hiking and biking up and only a half hour biking down back to the car in the fog and rain all on gravel forest service roads; Wahkeena and Multnomah Falls Loop 6 miles 1900 feet with AJ who was in Portland for a Contra dancing weekend; Left Coast Winery for some wine tasting and lunch with Kelsey and Ryan; Pre-Thanksgiving dinner Saturday at our house with Aaron, Addy, Liz, Dylan, Holly, Michael, Kelsey, Ryan, Julie, Tim, Christine and Mark playing ping pong and Schneider; Sunday hike 3 miles 500 feet at Cape Meares on the coast and then lunch at Tillamook Cheese Factory with the whole gang; Second Thanksgiving at Julie's with Aaron, Addy, Liz, Tom Brown, Veronica, Ellin, Tim and Jackie playing more Schneider; Kira turns a year old, Jessica's daughter; Connor James from a cute picture Joel sent me. 9/16&23&30&10/7&9&14&18/2024 Neighbor's chicken loose in our back yard; Middle Pyramid hike 4.4 miles 1800 feet; Iron Mt and Cone Peak hike 6.8 miles 1900 feet with Brian; Another boat ride from Independence on the Willamette River with Ramesh and Pat who just passed away in his sleep at the age of 80 RIP; Crescent Mountain hike 9.2 miles 2400 feet; Water Tower Mountain hike 3,2 miles 2900 feet a very steep trail with Brian near Detroit Lake; Very good Swan Lake ballet performance at the Elsinore Theater here in Salem; took Ramesh's boat out again with a new engine on Devil's Lake in Lincoln City and our last time to see Pat; Sardine Mountain 5.6 miles 3700 feet another steep hike with Brian; a day in Astoria with Ramesh; Coffin Mountain hike 2.9 miles 1000 feet in the fog and drizzle; crabbing trip in Yaquina Bay near Newport with Ramesh in Jason's beautiful boat getting 17 crabs in the traps; Lasagna dinner with the Julie and family on their way to University of Oregon for family weekend; another boat ride on the Willamette River with Ramesh to test his new crab pot; trip to Montana to celebrate Bridgette's 65 birthday; new bathroom in Bridgette's cabin plus she is working on a new kitchen too; Rocky Point hike 6.4 miles 700 feet along the Flathead River near Hungry Horse with Alison who just finished 4 months of bad chemo but now her PETscan shows No Cancer Detected; visited Laura's high school friend Chris (along with Bear, Larkin and Jen) in Moscow, Idaho on the way home from Montana with a tour of University of Idaho where Chris and Bear worked and Washington State campuses; fall volleyball team with Ashley, Tamra, Caroline, Sonja and Erik along with two fans Ashley's year old son Kolson and her husband Kyle.
